Most wedge pillows are cut from soft foam and lose their shape within months — but this ergonomic bed wedge is built to hold its angle for years. At its heart sits a 40D high-density core that keeps a steady 30-degree incline night after night, while an integrated, removable neck roll supports your head as your upper body rests elevated.

Whether you are sleeping, reading, or recovering, one considered structure supports every position.

  • 40D high-density core holds its incline year after year
  • Steady 30-degree angle for reliable elevation
  • Integrated, removable neck roll for head support
  • One form for sleeping, reading, and recovery

Overview

If lying flat does not suit you, Summit raises your upper body on a 30-degree incline and keeps it there, so you rest partly upright from the way the wedge holds you.

A removable neck roll at the top supports the curve of your neck so that your head does not tip back, and the gradual incline spreads your weight evenly with no pressure points. The firm 40D foam keeps the angle without compressing, and the breathable quilted grey cover unzips for washing. Turn it round to sleep on your back, to sit up and read, or to raise your legs.

56 x 37 cm, 27 cm high, 2.1 kg. Made for raised sleeping, sitting up in bed, reading and resting.

Care

Unzip the cover at the back of the wedge to take it off. The neck roll has its own zip and its cover comes off separately. Wash both covers in the machine in cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild, fragrance-free detergent; the quilted fabric keeps its structure and softness with gentle care. Dry them flat in the air or tumble dry on a low heat. Wash the covers every 3-4 weeks, or more often if you sweat heavily or use the wedge every day. Never wash the high-density foam core. If it gets wet, blot it with a towel and let it air dry completely in a well-ventilated place before the cover goes back on. Marks on the foam can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. To keep the shape and support, do not leave the wedge compressed or folded for long periods; store it upright or flat. The foam is firm and durable, but heavy compression can deform it over time. If the wedge picks up an odour, take off the cover and air the foam core for 24-48 hours in a well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight, which can degrade foam. New foam can have a slight odour, so air it for 24-48 hours before first use. The neck roll is held by Velcro and can be taken off for washing or moved up or down the wedge. Press it back on firmly so that it stays put in use. If the Velcro loses grip over time, clean it with a soft brush to remove lint and debris, or contact CalmEden customer service for replacement Velcro strips.

Materials

Wedge Core: High-density 40D memory foam made for firm, stable support. It is firmer than the foam in a standard pillow (25D-35D) because a wedge has to carry the whole weight of your upper body (typically 20-30kg) without compressing or losing its shape. The 40D foam holds the 30-degree incline night after night, even when used every night. It is also durable enough for sitting: you can sit up against the wedge to read or watch TV and it will not compress excessively. The gradual wedge shape (27cm high at the top, tapering to 0cm at the bottom) spreads body weight evenly over the surface, which avoids pressure points and keeps it comfortable. Listed as CertiPUR-US certified (free from harmful chemicals, heavy metals and formaldehyde).

30-Degree Incline: The wedge is cut to a 30-degree angle, and that angle does several things: (1) Raised head and torso—the 30-degree slope lifts the head and torso above the hips and keeps them there through the night. (2) A more upright rest—you rest partly upright instead of flat, which many people find more comfortable for reading and for sleep. (3) Head above chest level—the incline keeps the head higher than the chest for as long as you lie on it. (4) One steady angle—the wedge keeps one angle all night, so you are not rebuilding a stack of pillows that has slipped. (5) Spinal support—the gradual incline follows the natural curves of the spine better than lying flat and takes pressure off the lower back.

Integrated Neck Roll: The neck roll (10cm diameter) fastens with Velcro at the top of the wedge and supports the neck when you lie on it. With the upper body raised, the neck needs something to keep its natural curve: without the roll the head would tip backward or forward and strain the neck. The roll holds the neck in line. It is firm memory foam that keeps its cylinder shape under the weight of the head. It is removable: move it higher or lower on the wedge to suit your build, or take it off and use your own pillow. The Velcro is strong enough to hold the roll through the night and still easy to undo for washing or adjusting.

Cover: Breathable grey quilted fabric covers the wedge, with a darker grey quilted fabric on the neck roll. The quilting adds a soft, padded feel and forms air channels that help the fabric breathe. Grey shows stains and discolouration less readily than white. A zip at the back of the wedge lets the cover come off for washing. The fabric is soft against skin and clothing and comfortable for sleeping and for sitting.

Multi-Position Wedge Pillow That Raises the Upper Body

Ergonomic wedge pillow with a built-in neck roll that raises your upper body to a 30-degree incline, for sleeping, reading and resting

The angle does the work

Built to Hold 30 Degrees.

The wedge raises the head and torso on a steady 30-degree slope. A 40D high-density core keeps that angle night after night, without compressing or sagging flat.

Cervical support, adjustable

The Neck Roll Has a Job.

A 10 cm memory foam neck roll fastens with velcro at the top of the wedge and stops the head tipping back when you are raised. Slide it to suit your height, or take it off altogether. The grey quilted cover unzips for washing.

I can sleep without the 2am heartburn

Lying flat always gave me bad heartburn at night. Sleeping propped up on this at a gentle incline means I actually stay asleep now instead of sitting up in the dark. It's firm enough that I don't slide down off it either.

Breathe so much easier propped up

When I'm congested or fighting a cold, sleeping raised up on this makes a huge difference to my breathing. My partner also says I snore a lot less when I'm on it.

Holds the incline all night

A stack of pillows always slid apart and went flat by morning. This keeps the same angle from the moment I lie down till I wake up. I lean against it to read in the evening too.

Frequently asked questions

What is it like to sleep on the incline?
The wedge raises your head and torso on a gradual 30-degree slope, so you rest partly upright with your weight spread along the whole surface. It is a comfort and positioning product, not a medical device. If you have a health condition, follow your doctor's advice about how to sleep.
Is it a medical device?
No. It is a foam wedge that keeps the upper body raised. It does not diagnose or treat any condition, and it is not a substitute for equipment or treatment prescribed by a doctor. If you have concerns about your breathing at night, speak to a doctor.
Who is the incline meant for?
Anyone who prefers to rest with the head and torso raised: the 30-degree position keeps you partly upright through the night. If a doctor has told you to sleep at a particular angle, check that this one matches before relying on it.
Is it only for sleeping, or can I read and watch TV on it?
Both. The firm 40D core takes your weight when you sit and does not compress. Stand it against the headboard and lean back; many people use it as a seat support by day and for raised sleeping at night.
Is the slope comfortable to lie on?
Yes. The incline rises gradually, so your weight is spread along the wedge and not concentrated in one place. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, ask your doctor before changing how you sleep.
